BALTIMORE, March 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Constellation Energy
(NYSE: CEG) today announced that it has been named to Corporate Responsibility
Officer (CRO) Magazine's 100 Best Corporate Citizens list, acknowledging
excellence in corporate responsibility.
"Being recognized among the leaders for corporate social responsibility is
a tremendous accomplishment for Constellation Energy," said Mayo A. Shattuck
III, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Constellation Energy.
"We take our commitment to responsible and excellent corporate citizenship in
all facets of our business very seriously. Being included in CRO's ranking of
the top 100 Best Corporate Citizens affirms that we are focused on doing the
right things to make meaningful contributions to our employees, customers,
partners, investors and our communities."
In partnership with IW Financial -- a Portland, Maine, research and
consulting firm specializing in environmental, social and governance issues --
CRO ranked the corporate responsibility efforts of large-cap companies from
the Russell 1000 index in eight categories: climate change, employee
relations, environment, financial, governance, human rights, lobbying and
philanthropy. CRO then determined the final ranking as a weighted average of
these eight categories. With transparency being such an important component of
corporate responsibility, IW Financial relies on publicly available data from
company financial disclosures, sustainability, environment and citizenship
reports, Web sites, Environmental Protection Agency databases and a number of
other sources as part of its standardized research processes.
The 2008 list of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens marks the ninth year in
publication. A complete list of CRO's 100 Best Corporate Citizens is available
