Amelia Torode, Head of Strategy at The Good Relations Group, has been selected as one of the top 50 powerful executives in the UK today - who all happen to work part time or flexibly.

The 2013 Power Part Time List has been put together by the Timewise Foundation (timewisefoundation.org.uk), a leading social business that champions the social and business benefits of creating good quality flexible working opportunities.

Co-founder Karen Mattison MBE built the list to 'shine a light' on modern day patterns of work, after taking nominations from all round the UK. Mattison aims to de-mystify the process of climbing the career ladder, while working flexibly.

The initiative has the backing of EY and 6 executive search firms¹.

Just one of a few people in the creative industry on the list, Amelia works four days a week on the board of The Good Relations Group, where she is responsible for driving the Group's strategy, building trusted brands and positive reputations, by activating the power of good.

Choosing to work part time gives Amelia time to also write about the way technology and culture on her award-winning blog Life 'Moves Pretty Fast' and for publications such as The FT, Mail on Sunday, The Spectator and Campaign; mentor for She Says, Wayra Academy and Tech City/Creative Pioneers Youth Entrepreneurs; Chair for the IPA Strategy Group and enjoy her busy home life with a baby, toddler and French husband.

The Timewise Foundation conducted both the nationwide call to action for nominations in July, calling upon the public to nominate inspirational individuals they knew, who work part time / flexibly at senior levels. Founder Karen Mattison led the judging panel which included:

Steve Varley, managing partner for the UK and Ireland of EY
Andy Saunders, Deputy Editor of Management Today magazine
Katie Bickerstaffe, CEO of Dixon's Retail plc in the UK and the Nordics
Lynn Rattigan,Deputy Chief Operating Officer of EY.

After hearing from hundreds of people, the judges compiled a list of 50 deemed to be the most outstanding. The list is not ranked or numbered in any way.

Amelia says: "I'm honoured to have been included in the Timewise Foundation's 2013 Power Part Time list.  I hope that, by sharing my working patterns, I can help pave the way for future generations of workers - men as well as women - who will need to fit work with other major commitments in life."

The Timewise Foundation's founder and judge Karen Mattison MBE, who led the initiative from the start says: "Amelia and the other 49 individuals on the list represent the face of modern work. In sharing their stories, they prove there is more than one path to success. So much of the conversation around flexibility, until now, has focused on what's not possible. Ameliais helping to change the conversation, to what is. The Power Part Time Listers are trailblazers, paving the way for future generations."
