Rift Valley Bottlers Limited entered into an initial agreement to acquire Mount Kenya Bottlers Ltd from Centum Investment Company Limited, Industrial and Commercial Development Cooperation and other shareholders on August 2, 2012. In a related transaction, Rift Valley Bottlers Limited entered into an initial agreement to acquire Kisii Bottlers from Centum Investment Company Limited, Industrial and Commercial Development Cooperation and other shareholders on August 2, 2012. Kisii Bottlers, Mount Kenya Bottlers and Rift Valley Bottlers will merge to form a new entity called Almasi Beverages Ltd. Almasi Beverages creation will formally combine the governance and shareholding of all the three companies. The companies also plan to have a central administration and management team of nine Directors. All the employees will be retained.

The transaction is approved by the shareholders of Rift valley and Mount Kenya and is subject to regulatory approval and further shareholder approvals. The merger is expected to be completed in three months. Edwin Macharia from Dalberg Global Development Advisors acted as a financial advisor in the transaction.
