CARESPAN HEALTH, INC. CareSpan Health, Inc. announced the departure of Dr. Terry Knapp, as Director and Chief Medical Officer due to family matters, effective February 1, 2022. Effective February 1, 2022 Dr. Sam Toney will assume the role of Acting Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Toney joined CareSpan as its Senior Medical Director for Behavioral and Mental Health in early 2019 and initiated a directive to design an integrated approach to diagnosing and treating patients with chronic physical conditions complicated by co-morbid psychiatric and substance use disorders.
Dr. Toney has over thirty years of clinical management experience in health plan populations including Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare and commercial lines of business. Prior to joining CareSpan, Dr. Toney served as Chief Medical Officer for Health Integrated (which he founded) where he developed a unique behavior modification program known as Dynamic Somato-Social Theory to manage individuals with complex co-morbid profiles.
