Kent Surrey Sussex Academic Health Science Network Expo and Awards Posted on 9 January 2015

On January 15th 2015 Helen McBryer, Dementia Nurse and Study Coordinator at Cambridge Cognition will be joining over 300 academics and healthcare professionals at Kent, Surrey and Sussex Academic Health Science Network's annual Expo and Awards.

Alongside IXICO's R&D Manager, Lea Marais and Study Coordinator for Brighton & Sussex Medical School, Laura Bottomley, Helen will be presenting the case study of our Community Pilot trialling a Digital Healthcare platform for Dementia Diagnosis. Since joining forces in 2012 Cambridge Cognition have been working collaboratively on a Technology Strategy Board and Biomedical Catalyst funded project to reduce the time to diagnosis for Dementia from 18 months to 3 months.

The Dementia Seminar at the KSS AHSN EXPO will look at the key challenges in delivering high quality care for patients with Dementia and the case study looks at the work that Cambridge Cognition has been part of in collaboration with IXICO, the Brighton and Sussex Medical School, and the NHS. The programme has been using Cantab Mobile iPad assessments to test memory function, the tests are then used in conjunction with MRI scans in order to diagnose Dementia earlier.

The Cantab Mobile assessment is the most sensitive memory screen for early signs of Alzheimer's and has been used to assess over 14,000 patients in UK primary care. The case study presentation will look at the problem we are addressing, how the project is innovative and collaborative in its' approach, and how it will shape the role of the industry and health collaborations in the future, as well as, looking at the lessons learnt and next steps for the project. Seminar sessions also have an open group discussion and the chance to ask questions.

To find out more join Helen in the Dementia seminar as part of the KSS AHSN Expo & Awards at the London Lancaster Hotel on the 15th January.
