Blue Star Ltd. reported unaudited standalone earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended December 31, 2011. Operating loss (PBIDT excluding Other Income) for the quarter was INR 31.4 million compared to operating profit of INR 483 million for the same period last year. Total operating income of INR 5.89 billion as compared to INR 6.13 billion for the same period a year ago, representing a decline of 4%. Net loss was INR 327.6 million compared to net profit after tax of INR 223.6 million for the same period a year ago. Basic and diluted loss per share before and after extraordinary items was INR 3.64 compared to basic and diluted earnings per share before and after extraordinary items INR 2.49 for the same period a year ago. Loss from operations before other income, interest and exceptional items was INR 112.3 million compared to profit from operations before other income, interest and exceptional items was INR 402.5 million for the same period a year ago. For the nine month period ended December 31, 2011, the company reported total operating income of INR 18,990.2 million, as compared to INR 19,730 million over the same period in the previous year, a decline of 4%. Other operating income declined from INR 245.8 million to INR 137.9 million, during the same period. Operating profit (PBIDT excluding Other Income) declined by 77% from INR 1,743.6 million to INR 386.9 million. There was a net loss of INR 437.7 million compared to a net profit of INR 981.5 million in the corresponding period last year. Basic and diluted loss per share before and after extraordinary items was INR 4.87 compared to basic and diluted earnings per share before and after extraordinary items INR 10.91 for the same period a year ago. Profit from operations before other income, interest and exceptional items was INR 154.6 million compared to INR 1,508.7 million for the same period a year ago.
