BankUnited To Bid For City National Bank

BankUnited, Inc. is seeking to bid for City National Bank of Florida Inc. of Bankia, SA. John Kanas, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of BankUnited, said said he's considering putting in a bid for City National Bank of Florida. He added, "Obviously we will take a hard look at that.

The publicity surrounding that transaction is frothy and we think there will be a competitive auction so we will watch that and see what happens." Also according to industry BBVA Compass Bancshares, Inc. and Banco de Sabadell, S.A. are highly interested in City National Bank and it is also possible that private equity investors could acquire the bank and keep it independent.
