January 2016
Our research highlights the impact that external investment is having on what was previously a highly fragmented and traditional sector dominated by a broad sub scale middle market with the sector at a 'tipping point'. A significant number of newly capitalised firms have now entered the market with innovative operating models that give a competitive advantage.
Our research centres around two key themes:
The drive for consolidation in the market with the potential for over £3bn of revenue changing control and for 75% of the existing UK Top 200 firms to disappear.
A move to a profit model over a PEP model, resulting in a focus on efficiency with £200m of unrealised profit identified in the Top 200 alone.
