Dr. Martina Niemann to become Chief Human Resources Officer
airberlin is restructuring its human resources department: as
of 15th February 2012
Dr. Martina Niemann (47) will take over the leadership of the newly formed Human Resources Section of the Board of Management. In her role as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHO) she will be responsible for the entire human resources department of the airberlin group. "By creating a new Human Resources Section of the Board of Management, we intend to strengthen the work of the personnel department at airberlin. We are very pleased to have been able to attract Dr. Martina Niemann to work with us, as she is a proven expert in her field and has many years of experience," Mehdorn commented.
Dr. Martina Niemann joins airberlin from the Deutsche Bahn AG, where she has held a number of leading positions since 1995. She was responsible, among other areas, for human resources reporting and analysis and was in charge of the area of workforce deployment and the group's labour market. Before moving to airberlin Dr. Niemann was Head of Remuneration and Welfare Policy for the group and therefore had responsibility for salary negotiations. After graduating in economics, she started her professional career as the manager of a capital investment company. Following two years with Deutsche Lufthansa Dr. Niemann moved to the position of Head of Controlling for the travel agency sector of the Kaufhof group. Dr. Niemann is married and has two children.
