Mali's cotton exports for the marketing year August 2021 through July 2022 have been revised down by 15%, the U.S. agriculture department said late Tuesday.

Exports are now anticipated at 1.1 million 480-pound bales, revised from the 1.3 million bales estimated in June, the department said in its July Cotton: World Markets and Trade report.

The decline is attributed to less global demand and logistical issues, it said.

Exports are estimated to increase to 1.4 million bales in 2022-23, the report said.

Production is forecast to rise slightly, to 1.45 million bales in 2022-23 from 1.43 bales this year, it said.

Mali exports 98% of its cotton.

In 2021, most cotton was exported to China, Thailand, and Indonesia, accounting for 80%, 8% and 3%, respectively, according to the department.
