STORY: More than 150 rescuers have raced to reach Dickey, and Turkish and international teams set up tents and cables outside the sinkhole, Turkey's third-largest, which is at an altitude of 7,000 foot.
Dickey thanked the Turkish government and Turkish cavers, adding that it is a "great opportunity to show just how well the international world can work together".
"And as you can see I'm up, I'm alert, I'm talking. But I'm not healed on the inside yet so I'm going to need a lot of help to get out of here," he said.
