CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Jan 27, 2015) - The Spectrem Millionaire Investor Confidence Index (SMICI®) fell 6 points in January to 10, a three-month low, Spectrem Group announced today. The Spectrem Affluent Investor Confidence Index (SAICI®) dropped 4 points to 7.

The indices, compiled by Spectrem Group, a market research and consulting firm specializing in the affluent and retirement markets, measure the investment confidence and outlook of households with more than $1 million of investable assets (SMICI) and $500,000 of investable assets (SAICI).

The SMICI is down seven points from the same period last year, while the SAICI is unchanged.

The drop in the January indices is a reflection of concern over recent stock market volatility. "Stock market conditions are the primary factor affecting affluent investors' current investment plans," said George H. Walper, Jr., president of Spectrem Group. "Following the recent market swings, these investors are indicating that in the coming month they will be investing more in bond mutual funds and cash, and less in equities."

Affluent investors also indicated increased concerns over household income, which, for the second consecutive month, held down the Spectrem Affluent Household Outlook, a measure of confidence in financial factors that impact their daily lives.
