Viva Energy confirms that on the afternoon of Tuesday 2 January a suspected fuel leak was identified in the vicinity of the Mascot fuel pipeline in Sydney Olympic Park, NSW. The pipeline was immediately isolated and crews deployed to assess the pipeline and ascertain the cause.

The area around the pipeline has been excavated and the source of the leak determined, with repair works commencing early this morning. It appears the pipeline has sustained external damage, the cause of which will be investigated. The pipeline will remain isolated whilst the repair works are undertaken.

The Pipeline Regulator (NSW Department of Planning and Environment), EPA, Safework NSW, Sydney Olympic Park Authority and emergency services have all been notified.

Viva Energy takes its environmental responsibilities seriously and while the extent of the fuel leak has yet to be confirmed we are taking all actions necessary to address the issue.
