Trinchero Family Estates (TFE) today announced a partnership with Ziata wines. Founded in 2008 by wine industry veteran Karen Cakebread, Ziata wines are small-production wines born out of the many relationships that Karen has cultivated in the two decades that she’s lived and worked in Napa Valley. The Ziata portfolio includes Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and a proprietary Bordeaux-style blend, from unique parcels and vineyard sources in the best appellations of Sonoma and Napa, ranging in suggested retail price from $30 - $150.

Ziata wines, named in honor of Karen’s mother, Mary Annunziata, has achieved success in top-tier restaurants and specialty wine shops throughout California as well as through a robust direct mailing list. “I created Ziata to honor my incredibly strong mother, so it is a natural next step to work with a renowned family-owned company to further grow this brand,” commented Karen Cakebread.

Since her first vintage in 2008, Karen has worked alongside with renowned female winemaking consultants in crafting the Ziata wines. Jennifer Williams will continue as the lead winemaking consultant. Jennifer is a graduate of Cal Poly and a mentee of legendary viticulturist David Abreu. She has worked with notable wineries including Spottswoode, Zeitgeist Cellars and Arrow and Branch.

The partnership marks an important chapter for Trinchero Family Estates. Founded in 1948 and today the second largest family-owned wine business in the United States, the Ziata addition to the company underscores a notable investment in luxury wines for the robust portfolio. President and COO Bob Torkelson noted, “The addition of Ziata wines to our portfolio and the opportunity to work with Karen and Jennifer further adds to our more exclusive offerings, and reinforces the Napa Valley roots of this family-owned and operated business.” Ziata wines will continue to be available online and in finer retailers and restaurants as part of the TFE portfolio.
