At this year’s NRF Big Show, Toshiba will be featuring new enhancements and extended partnerships that highlight the company’s innovations, with a focus on omni-channel, mobile payments, security and devices.

OMNI-CHANNEL

Toshiba is expanding its relationship with alliance partner Zebra Technologies Corporation to offer retailers additional handheld and tablet devices to further differentiate their stores with an even more engaging shopping experience to build brand loyalty, with more effective promotions and a faster, more convenient checkout option for mobile shoppers.

The Toshiba TCxTMAmplify solution provides retailers with valuable insights while delivering unobtrusive messages and alerts to shoppers, and also provides line busting capabilities for peak shopping times. A variety of mobile devices also enable restocking and assisted selling capabilities and offer mobile payment. Toshiba TCxAmplify solutions are designed to be a natural extension of retailers’ POS solutions, expanding the value of existing investments, while creating efficiencies and delivering a cohesive and satisfying store experience for shoppers.

SEMI INTEGRATED PAYMENT SOLUTION – EMV CERTIFIED

Today's retailers must be able to effortlessly manage payments with unlimited flexibility, while ensuring that credit and debit card data is protected against malware attacks. In collaboration with business partner Aurus, Inc., Toshiba will be demonstrating a flexible, semi-integrated payments solution to global retailers. This solution “takes the POS out of PCI Scope” by providing security features such as Point to Point Encryption and Tokenization. The solution enables merchants to accept EMV chip cards from 7 major payment processor platforms in the US plus new ways to pay such as Apple Pay, Android Pay and Samsung Pay. The solution has a robust Enterprise Portal to help the retailer manage the back office functions such as reconciliations, loss prevention and device management. Further, the customer can easily adapt and scale as store needs evolve its payment acceptance in a new omni-channel world.

"With the new requirements to accept EMV Chip cards and Indiana E-WIC cards, Marsh Supermarkets turned to Toshiba to provide an innovative solution to achieve the deadlines while delivering a solid ROI," said Jay Stanley, CIO of Marsh Supermarkets. "The innovative Toshiba and Aurus semi-integrated platform solution was selected as the best future based strategy to allow Marsh to successfully manage the rapidly evolving payment environment."

SECURITY

As the premier point-of-sale platform for large retailers worldwide, the Toshiba 4690 Operating System environment is known for reliably delivering robust functionality. The latest 4690 V6.5 release offers retailers enhanced proactive security features for the 4690 file system including Whitelisting and File Integrity Monitoring (File Integrity Monitoring features also will be available for the Linux file system), which allow them to better protect against potential security threats before they happen.

DEVICES

The ubiquity of consumer mobile devices offers near limitless access to on-demand products, information, and services, and means that while retailers must be focused on strengthening customer advocacy, transaction speed, accuracy, and a personalized shopping experience as differentiators, these are now business imperatives. At NRF, Toshiba will also premier the latest offerings in the Toshiba TCx™Display family, which provide an intuitive touch interface for both retail associates and customers. The two newest displays to join the family, models 5SR and 5SD, offer retailers a 15” (38.1 cm, diagonal) standard format 4:3 displays option. These new TCx™Displays capitalize on Toshiba’s design and technology leadership, incorporating thoughtful design elements that complement Toshiba’s award-winning TCx™700, TCx™300 and TCxWave™ systems for maximum deployment flexibility.

Highlighting Toshiba’s commitment to innovation, the Toshiba SurePOS 500 will soon be getting a boost during Spring 2016 to offer Core i5 performance. Visit the Toshiba booth to hear how the enhanced processor offering will integrated into the SurePOS 500 Point of Sale platform models to enable retailers to act quicker while accessing better services and pricing, and to deliver a better experience to their shoppers.
