Washington, D.C. - Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) today released the following statement after meeting with the nominee for Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Jay Clayton:

'I had a very encouraging talk with Jay Clayton today. He understands that the SEC's job is to enforce the rules of the road, not to erect roadblocks to progress. We discussed how compliance costs are choking off capital from small businesses trying to grow. We also spoke about the blizzard of SEC rules and regulations, which is overwhelming broker dealers and Arkansas banks. As SEC chairman, he will focus like a laser on creating jobs, protecting investors, and promoting growth. I look forward to supporting his nomination.'
