Seminar: Grow Your Community, Not Your Ego with Dorie Hagler
Wednesday, January 27th, 5pm - 6:30pm

Join renowned photographer, advocate, and storyteller Dorie Hagler for a seminar on how freelance photographers can grow their communities rather than their egos.

Successful freelance photography requires many positive qualities: talent, grit, hard work, patience, a sense of humor, and just as importantly, a sense of community. Attendees will explore the many ways they can grow their photography community and land more assignments. Dorie will share the "twisty, turny" road her career has taken and will demonstrate how her many successes can in part be attributed to her photographer-friends.

For the past 20 years, Dorie has focused on growing her community. Looking back, her best opportunities -- whether they were important assignments, gallery shows, or public art commissions -- have happened because of her professional relationships with photographer-friends and colleagues within the industry.

Dorie's work has appeared in The New York Times, Sports Illustrated, and The Chicago Tribune, among others. She is also a project photographer for international and local non-profit organizations and has been awarded public art commissions by The State of New Mexico.

Free Demos: How to Light and Shoot Great Interviews with Daniel Norton
Thursday, January 28th, 3 Sessions: 12pm - 1:30pm, 2pm - 3:30pm, 4pm - 5:30pm

Join Daniel Norton, Adorama Pro's senior lighting consultant and trainer, in a free workshop that demonstrates how to light and shoot great interviews.

Interviews are a staple of documentary, corporate, and electronic news gathering (ENG) filmmaking and are the bread and butter of many filmmakers.

While each interview presents its own unique set of challenges, there are three common types of interviews each shooter needs to master. The hands-on demonstrations will explore camera, lighting, and audio for sit-down interviews (12 pm session); run-and-gun interviews (2 pm session); and magazine show-style interviews (4 pm session).

Attendees will learn how to light simply, quickly, and effectively; use 4K to create an "extra" camera; record great audio in any location; and ask producers the right questions before stepping on set.

There will be three unique 60-minute to 90-minute sessions. RSVP to one or all three of the sessions.
