HARRISBURG, Pa., Jan. 7, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- To assist in the effort to reduce hunger in local communities, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) today announced a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Josh Cellars wines at Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores will be donated to Hunger-Free Pennsylvania and Feeding Pennsylvania.

"Donations to food banks typically slow down substantially in January but the need does not abate," said Joseph E. Brion, PLCB chairman. "We applaud our vendor partner, Josh Cellars, for generously donating a portion of their proceeds to assist in keeping local food pantries stocked during the long winter months."

From Jan. 4 - Feb. 1, Josh Cellars will donate $1 per bottle of the following wines, up to $5,000.

California vintner Joseph Carr's line of Josh Cellars wine is named in honor of his father - a volunteer firefighter who also served in the United States Army. Josh Cellars offers bold, complex and approachable wines handcrafted for drinking with family and friends. Sourced from vineyards across California, Josh Cellars offers six varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot and a new red blend, "Legacy." All of them are on sale at Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores during the month of January.

Hunger-Free Pennsylvania's 20 members serve all 67 counties.

Feeding Pennsylvania is a collaborative effort of eight Feeding-America-affiliated food banks in Pennsylvania. Like Hunger-Free Pennsylvania, the mission of Feeding Pennsylvania is to promote and aid member food banks in securing food and other resources to reduce hunger in local communities.
