The Cainan Foundation today launched to support education initiatives for the world's most underserved children. The Cainan Foundation was established with the belief that educated young people can transform their communities for the better and eradicate long-standing cycles of poverty. The foundation, which is funded through profits of Ustocktrade, a new trading network, will provide a first-rate education to those in need throughout the world.

Tony Weeresinghe, a Sri Lankan native and technology pioneer who has developed some of the world's most robust equity trading systems, conceived The Cainan Foundation after experiencing firsthand the role that education can play in revolutionizing communities. The foundation will build self-sustaining boarding schools in impoverished areas, providing all the necessary tools and resources students need to obtain a high-quality education and become capable leaders in a developing world.

"In general, the world takes advantage of innocent children, and after two decades as a corporate executive, I was ready to work with my family to make a real difference in the lives of the children who need help most. We came up with the idea for the Cainan Foundation because we believe education empowers children – our future leaders – to take advantage of all that the world has to offer," said Weeresinghe. "By designing a self-sustaining model that is funded through profits of another business, The Cainan Foundation is set up to scale quickly, and we're excited to help as many children as we can."

The Cainan Foundation plans to house approximately 500 K-12 students at each of its boarding schools, with a goal of building at least one school on each continent. The wide-ranging curriculum is customized to each region and is based on a holistic approach, encompassing not only traditional academic subjects but also practical skills such as farming, animal husbandry and small enterprise. The Cainan Foundation has partnered with Merrill J Fernando, founder of Dilmah Tea, to build its first school in Sri Lanka and is working closely with the Sri Lankan government to finalize a location.

The Cainan Foundation is led by Weeresinghe, who serves as its director, and his wife, Cindy Weeresinghe, who is a co-founder. The foundation is primarily funded through profits of Ustocktrade, the world's first consumer-friendly trading network which also launched today. Ustocktrade's goal is to lower the traditional barriers of entry to stock trading and make it accessible for every individual who has ever had an interest.
