A developer's hopes of building two extra new homes on a site in Bradfield have been dashed.

Planning permission has already been granted 12 properties on land at Heath Farm in Windmill Road.

Applications were made for two more - as well as requesting changes to previous plans to accommodate the extra two.

It would have meant reducing the gardens to two large houses to fit in the extra bungalows on the site.

However, Tendring District Council's (TDC) Planning Committee rejected both the new bungalows and changes to the previous proposal.

It was considered it would be out of character with the surrounding area and make the development too cramped.

Bradfield Parish Council objected to the scheme and said that reducing the garden sizes would result in dwellings which were out of character with the rural setting and would make it more urban.

TDC also received two letters of objection as well as two letters of support for the proposal.
