“Kaplan University (KU) issued its sixth annual Academic Report: The Year in Review today, which portrays the transformation the school has on many of its students’ lives. The 50-page Report, which covers the academic year beginning July 1, 2014 and ending June 30, 2015, details the educational experience, student learning and employment outcomes and profiles Kaplan University individual schools and programs.

A new feature within this Report is spotlight stories of the University’s students and graduates. The Report, like those before it, also provides a transparent read-out of KU’s many accomplishments and outcomes, as well as, ongoing progress on key institutional metrics throughout the academic year.

Kaplan University has a three-pronged focus on students’ careers: offering competency-based education with a special focus on those professional competencies employers expect and an efficient journey to completion, while providing a supportive environment. This academic year, the University began issuing students competency reports. Details on this personalized summary are in the Report. Efficiency can be achieved through innovative, self-directed pathways under Open College, through assessment of experiential learning and through modularized course work that enables the maximization of transfer credit. Since 2008, the University has been surveying final-term students to gauge their Kaplan University experience. In 2014-2015, 91 percent expressed overall satisfaction.

In addition to announcing the release of the Academic Report, Kaplan University is included on U.S. News & World Report’s 2016 Best Online Bachelor Degree Programs, for the third consecutive year.

Additional Report highlights include:

  • Kaplan University conferred 12,659 degrees in the academic year.
  • Seventy-five percent of Kaplan University students for the 2014-2015 academic year were female, and 59 percent were over the age of 30.
  • $35.8 million in scholarships and grants was awarded to over 48 thousand students, an increase from last year ($23.9 million).
  • Forty-three percent of Kaplan University faculty members hold doctoral degrees.
  • Kaplan University continues to be a military-friendly higher education institution and the academic choice of more than 9,000 military-related students including active U.S. military, veterans and military spouses. Military Edge magazine named the University to its top 20 “Best for Vets” list of schools offering online education for the second consecutive year.
  • Kaplan University’s Research Pipeline has partnered with Stanford University’s PERTS (Project for Education Research That Scales) and collaborated with scientists including, John Sweller, PhD of the University of New South Wales, Todd Rogers, PhD of Harvard University and Mesmin Destin, PhD of Northwestern University.
