The Commercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment Rental and Leasing Services Price Index rose 0.4% in the third quarter, following a 1.0% increase in the second quarter.
Heavy machinery and equipment rental and leasing services (construction, transportation, mining and forestry) rose 0.5%. Office and other commercial and industrial machinery and equipment rental and leasing services increased 0.4%.
The index was up 0.4% in the third quarter compared with the same quarter of 2012.

This price index measures price changes of rental and leasing activities for the commercial and industrial machinery and equipment industry.
With each release, data for the previous quarter may have been revised. Data are also subject to an annual revision with the release of second quarter data of the following reference year. The index is not seasonally adjusted.
The Office and Other Commercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment Rental and Leasing Services Price Index combines the North American Industry Classification System codes 53242 and 53249.

The Commercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment Rental and Leasing Services Price Index for the fourth quarter of 2013 will be released in April.
