Import prices in December 2016 1.3% higher than in the previous month

Compared to November 2016, in December 2016 import prices were 1.3% higher. The prices of products supplied from the euro area were higher by 1.7% and the prices of products imported from the non-euro area by 0.9%.

As regards groups of activities showing the dynamics of prices by end-use, in December 2016 energy prices increased by 4.2%, intermediate goods prices by 1.4%, capital goods prices by 0.8% and consumer goods prices by 0.5%.
In December 2016 import prices increased the most in the group electricity, gas, steam, air cond. supply (by 8.4%).

In December 2016 import prices decreased the most in the group extraction of crude petroleum, natural gas (by 1.1%).

Import prices 2.7% higher than in 2015

In 2016 import prices increased by 2.7%. In the same period the prices of products supplied from the euro area increased by 3.3% and the prices of products imported from the non-euro area by 1.8%.

The prices of imports increased the most in the group extraction of crude petroleum, natural gas (by 15.2%), in the group electricity, gas, steam, air conditioning supply (by 13.3%) and in the group basic metals (by 12.0%).

The prices of imports decreased the most in the group tobacco products (by 5.1%).
