Statistical Office of Republic of Slovenia : In December 2016, 1.3% less milk collected than in December 2015

Milk collection decreased also in December 2016 compared to December 2015
The quantity of collected milk decreased for the second time in a row. In December 2016, 1.3% less milk was collected than in December 2015. Compared to the previous month milk collection increased by more than 5%.
In December 2016 higher fat and protein content than in December 2015
The fat and protein content in milk increased over the previous month and also compared to December 2015.
In December dairies produced more drinking milk
The production of drinking milk increased by 16% compared to November 2016 and by almost 4% compared to December 2015.
Butter production also increased in December
Slovene dairies produced almost 320 tons of butter in December 2016. Compared to the previous month the production increased by more than 34% and compared to December 2015 by more than 14%.
Cheese production over 1,300 tons in each of the last four months
Cheese production did not change much in the last four months; in each it was over 1,300 tons. Compared to production in December 2015 production increased by almost 5%.
Much higher production of acidified milk than in December 2015
Dairies produced almost 3,100 tons of acidified milk in December 2016. The production of acidified milk decreased by more than 3% compared to the previous month, while compared to December 2015 it increased by more than 28%.
In December lower production of cream
Cream production was almost 2% lower than in the previous month and 5% lower than in December 2015.
Milk on the international market
We invite you to have a look at the data on the »EU Milk Market Observatory « site, where you will be able to find the latest data on the prices and quantity of milk and milk products. Milk production in the EU has been decreasing since June 2016 (compared to milk production in 2015). On the other hand, raw milk prices and the prices of dairy products are rising.
Final data for 2016 will be published in a First Release on 14 February 2017, when we will further comment on the production of dairy products throughout 2016.
