Spanning Cloud Apps, Inc., the leading provider of data backup and recovery for cloud applications, is rolling into 2014 on the heels of record growth. In 2013, Spanning quadrupled its customer base and revenue from 2012, amassed a large network of key channel partners, announced Spanning Backup for Salesforce, and nearly tripled the size of the company while adding new leadership to the management team.

"2013 was a pivotal year for Spanning. We added world-class customers, expanded our product offering and established new partnerships with industry leaders including Salesforce.com and EMC," said Jeff Erramouspe, CEO and president, Spanning. "Leading enterprises and educational institutions are choosing our cloud backup and recovery solutions because of our product innovation and exceptional customer service. We're the organization they can trust and partner with to protect their critical data."

As adoption of Spanning Backup for Google Apps continues to grow worldwide, Spanning is gaining sizable traction in the enterprise market with leading organizations, including Megabrands, Pivotal, Redfin, Jawbone and Netflix.

"While many organizations believe their data is automatically safe and secure in the cloud, our customers can rest assured they are protected. In 2013, our customers used Spanning Backup to recover more than five million data objects, including email, documents, websites, calendar events and contacts lost as a result of user error, synch errors or malicious attacks," said Erramouspe.

Spanning Backup for Salesforce was announced at Dreamforce 2013 as the market's first "in-app" backup and recovery solution for Salesforce.com and the company has already seen tremendous demand for the beta program. The full release is scheduled for general availability in March 2014.

As a key component to Spanning's global expansion efforts and enterprise reach, the company added 150 new Google Apps resellers. Additionally, Spanning joined the EMC® Select Partner Program, making Spanning Backup for Google Apps available for purchase through the worldwide EMC sales and partner channels.

Over the course of 2013, the Spanning team grew from 16 employees to 40 in its Austin-based downtown headquarters and has plans to double to 80 by the close of 2014. In 2013, the company moved its headquarters to 823 Congress, a space four times larger than its former offices to accommodate its 2014 staffing growth.

Spanning also made key management shifts naming Austin tech veteran Erramouspe as the company's new CEO to succeed founder Charlie Wood, who is now chairman, and Melanie Sommer as the new vice president of marketing.

"Spanning is experiencing explosive growth, and I'm excited to be joining the team at this point in time. In addition, our footprint in Austin is increasing and a key priority for us is to continue recruiting top talent along with building on the foundation of a thriving downtown technology community," said Sommer. "We are a progressive company cultivating a vibrant culture and representing the best of what Austin offers high-tech professionals."
