Cllr Sarah Holland, Mayor of South Dublin, has arranged a coffee morning for all the election candidates and elected representatives in Dublin South West.

She has invited local rehabilitation facilities, family resource centres, charitable organisations and Magdalene laundry survivors.

She said

'Feminism is one of the cornerstones of our working class communities.

At a very basic level, it exists in the support we, as women, get from our family, friends and neighbours.

I wanted to offer a chance to all of our local female politicians and candidates to hear what issues affect women in our community.

There is no doubt that some of us will be elected to the Dáil in the upcoming elections, so this is an excellent chance for local organisations to plead their cases to women who will be in a position to do something about those issues.'

The coffee morning will be held in council offices on the morning of January 22, and offers a unique networking & lobbying opportunity for local organisations.

Cllr Holland said

'I would encourage all of the candidates to attend. We can get to know each other, and take on board the stories from the real women who make up our communities.'
