Zibo, January 5 - After 10 days of growth and two days of cooling, the first industrial sapphire weighting 45 kg was freshly created by Xinsheng Industrial Company of Shandong Energy Xinwen Mining Group. The sapphire project started its research phase since 2015 research and construction started in April 2016. At present, the company has installed 10 crystal incubators.
Industrial sapphire crystal is the single crystal form of alumina, which is transparent with a hardness second only to diamond. Its excellent physical, chemical and optical properties makes it ideal material for LED substrates, optical windows, mobile phones, smart watches and other electronic products. The total planning of the project includes 500 incubators with annual production capacity of 1,000 tons, and the downstream industrial chain of cutting, grinding and polishing process will be put in place soon.
