WASHINGTON-Jan. 15, 2020-The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) released the following statement from president & CEO John Neuffer regarding the 'phase one' U.S.-China trade agreement signed today. SIA represents U.S. leadership in semiconductor manufacturing, design, and research, with members accounting for approximately 95 percent of U.S. semiconductor company sales.

'The 'phase one' trade agreement signed today helps ease uncertainty in the semiconductor industry, and we hope it provides a stepping stone to a more comprehensive deal between the world's two largest economies. We applaud the important progress made today and urge both sides to continue negotiations to reach a phase two agreement that ensures a level playing field in China and tackles some of the thornier issues, such as state subsidies that can massively distort the marketplace.'
