Currently, the monitoring of turtle nesting on the beaches south and north beaches of Regência, region of the mouth of the Doce River, is still occurring normally, even with the presence of turbidity plume.

According to the Tamar Project, which is supported by Samarco since January, 27 nests and 202 chicks of Loggerhead were recorded (Caretta caretta) during the day and night monitoring carried out in the region.

The result will be confirmed at the end of the season in March, when they will be compared to the data on the number of eggs and the birth of offspring of other reproductive seasons. The Tamar is releasing the baby turtles on Comboios Beach, a distant area that is less affected by the turbidity plume.
