Samarco teams are working on the renovation of 50 units, counting homes and stores, in the city of Barra Longa in Minas Gerais. This involves about 500 Company employees as well as outsourced personnel working on the repair of structural damage, changing out flooring and painting walls. So far, 14 homes and 15 stores have received improvements, and 8 stores are already in business again.

In addition to the renovation work, the Company has a work front of humanitarian assistance. About 20 Company employees are engaged in active dialogue with impacted residents and store owners and are in charge of the infrastructure of the renovated units, including the purchase and installation of furniture and appliances.

In the case of the tradespeople who have had their former source of income affected, Samarco is making a case by case evaluation to define with them the best solution for each one. A café, for example, has opened up again after the renovation and the supply of equipment by the Company.

The impacted residents of Barra Longa also receive a monthly allowance, in the form of a prepaid debit card. Up to now, 139 cards have been delivered in the city. This assistance represents a Brazilian minimum monthly wage for each family, plus 20% of same for each dependant, in addition to a monthly staple basket worth R$ 338,61.
