Global asset manager Russell Investments announced today that Bryan Weeks has joined the firm as head of its Americas Institutional business. With this business poised to build on its record growth and success in 2016, Weeks will bring to bear his 25 years of experience in institutional asset management, including product innovation and business management. He also comes to Russell Investments with first-hand knowledge of the firm and its value proposition for clients, having previously had a decade-plus tenure in various leadership roles spanning sales, service and relationship management in the institutional business.

“Our institutional business is an example of our competitive strength in today’s asset management landscape, and I am thrilled to welcome Bryan back to our company to help us lead this segment of our business into its next phase of growth,” said Len Brennan, CEO of Russell Investments. “Our multi-asset investing approach has never been more relevant: we are a recognized leader in OCIO, and in 2016 this part of our business achieved growth at a pace we haven’t seen in more than a decade, as institutional investors increasingly turned to us to help them achieve their outcomes.”

Most recently, Weeks was CEO of Silver Creek Capital Management. During his 12 years there, he helped drive double-digit growth, taking the firm from $2.8 billion AUM to $7 billion today. Part of this growth was driven by the launch of a new business, Silver Creek Advisory Partners. The business grew to $5 billion and was focused largely on new innovative alternatives, including hedge funds, private credit and real assets.

“I could not be more excited to join Russell Investments at this time in its history. I have a deep, long-held respect for this firm, its people and its approach to investing,” said Weeks. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead the delivery of institutional solutions for clients who are seeking to meet a variety of outcomes, and who are looking to work with a firm that shares their responsibilities and targets as if they were our own.”

Weeks succeeds Greg Gilbert who is departing Russell Investments to pursue other personal and business interests.

Russell Investments’ U.S. institutional business serves defined benefit plans, defined contribution plans, hospital and health systems, and non-profit organizations. More information can be found here.
