LONDON, May 13 (Reuters) - Erik Thedeen, governor of Sweden's central bank, has been appointed as the new chair of the global Basel Committee of banking regulators, the committee's oversight body said in a statement on Monday.

Thedeen replaces Bank of Spain Governor Pablo Hernandez de Cos, who has chaired the Basel Committee since March 2019. Thedeen's term starts on June 11 for three years, renewable once, the Group of Central Bank Governors and Heads of Supervision said.
