Some 280 houses were affected, CCTV said, adding that around 490 residents had to be evacuated. In one such rescue operation, the water level was seen to be chest-deep, the CCTV report showed.
Local authorities have declared an emergency response plan for the floods, the report said.
The death toll from the heavy rain in Chongqing rose to at least five with one person missing, according to a report on Thursday (July 11) by state news agency Xinhua.
