Former Burbank Mayor and geotechnical consultant Marsha Ramos was seated today as the city’s representative on the board of directors of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.

Ramos succeeds Glenn A. Brown, who had served on the Metropolitan board since 2001. She is vice president of Geosystems, Inc., a Glendale-based consulting firm that advises public and private sector clients with real estate and development practices.

Ramos was elected to the Burbank City Council in 2001 and served until 2009, including two years as mayor. Following her City Council tenure, she chaired and managed the successful 2013 campaign for Measure S, a $10 million general obligation bond election for the Burbank Unified School District to fund water conservation and energy efficiency improvements. She is the immediate past chair of the American Lung Association in California and serves on the organization’s board of directors.

Born in Albuquerque, N.M., she earned a bachelor’s degree in urban planning from California State University, Northridge.

Ramos and her husband, Dave, have two adult sons.

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is a cooperative of 26 cities and water agencies serving nearly 19 million people in six counties.The district imports water from the Colorado River and Northern California to supplement local supplies, and helps its members to develop increased water conservation, recycling, storage and other resource-management programs.
