Pete Olson : Olson Announces Sugar Land Naval Academy Appointments

SUGAR LAND, TX- Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today announced that Thomas Le and Brihunandan Sundararaman, both of Sugar Land, TX, have received appointments to the U.S. Naval Academy for the fall of 2018. Le is a senior at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory. He is a proud Eagle Scout and lettered all 4 years in varsity wrestling. He is also a Principal's Honor Roll student and serves as head of the House Student Council. Sundararaman is a senior at Clements High School. He is a 2016 District Champion for cross country and is also a member of the varsity track team and swim team. Sundararaman is a Student Hero Program Director for the Houston Food Bank, a NJROTC Platoon Commander and an AP Scholar with Distinction. Olson will present Le and Sundararaman with proclamations congratulating them on their appointments. Le and Sundararaman are the second and third TX-22 students to receive academy appointments this year.

Military academy appointees are evaluated for a variety of qualifications including: moral character, strong academic record, demonstrated leadership potential, physical fitness, and commitment to serve a five-year military term in the United States Armed Forces upon graduation.
