Thursday, January 26, 2017 - IICA Representative in the Eastern Caribbean, Mr. John King, this week paid a courtesy call on OECS Director General Dr. Didacus Jules. The purpose of the visit was to introduce Mr. Allister Glean, the new International Specialist in Agri-business and Value Chains at the IICA Office in Saint Lucia. Mr. Glean met the Director General and Staff of the Economic Affairs Division of the OECS Commission.

The OECS is one of the key partners of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA). IICA works very closely with its member states in Latin America and the Caribbean to improve agriculture and rural development, towards achieving competitive and sustainable agriculture and food security in the Americas.

The Director General and IICA officials discussed priority areas where IICA could provide support to OECS Member States. These include, strengthening intra-regional trade, greater emphasis on youth and women in agriculture, and the free circulation of goods within the OECS Economic Union.
