22/01/2016 - I want to congratulate Deputy Secretary-General Stefan Kapferer on his move to become the head of the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW).

It comes as no surprise that the BDEW has looked to a professional of Stefan's calibre to become the Chairman of its Executive Board. He is at ease in both business and politics and his leadership and diplomatic skills will be a great asset for BDEW, just as they were for me and the OECD.

Stefan joined us in October 2014 following a successful career in the German public administration, including the position of State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. His experience and expertise on social affairs, labour markets, industrial policy, innovation and SME Policy has contributed to advance our Organisation's work in these areas. We will greatly miss his contribution to the OECD and wish him well in his new endeavours
