Wine exports recorded a rise of 2.8% in volume, 8.6% in value, and 4.6% in average price from January to November 2021, when compared to the same period in the previous year.

The data were disclosed by the Portuguese Statistics Office (INE) and also showed that during this period, the wines from the Douro Demarcated region recorded growth of 11% in quantity and 18% in value, coming close to 547 million euros.

November 2021 was a particularly good month for selling wines from the Douro Demarcated Region. It was the best month since the start of 2019 in terms of turnover in the national market and for exports.

"Portuguese wines have showed a remarkable evolution, largely bolstered by exports. The data now disclosed by the Portuguese Statistics Offce underline this fact, while at the same time showing the sector's resilience. The Ministry of Agriculture has invested in being close to producers and farmers, defining and implementing the necessary measures to ensure predictability and stability, and we wish to congratulate them on these results, which please us tremendously", stated the Minister of Agriculture, Maria do Céu Antunes.

We note that from January to November, the top 5 export markets for Portuguese wine, in terms of value, were France, USA, United Kingdom, Brazil, and Germany.
