BISMARCK, N.D. - The North Dakota Department of Health (NDDoH) has been notified of a semi-truck and trailer accident in Traill County, resulting in the release of approximately 10 gallons of diesel fuel and an unknown amount of canola oil. The truck was operated by Darcol International.

The accident occurred approximately 5 miles south of Hillsboro on Monday January 15 and was reported the same day. The truck and trailer slid off a bridge crossing the Elm River and straddled the river. Diesel fuel and canola oil from the trailer spilled onto the snow covering the river.

The impacted snow has been removed. Personnel from the NDDoH are on site and will continue to monitor the remediation.
