NOC National Oil : welcomes the holding of the Conference of Benghazi Reconstruction and reveals its projects in Benghazi

NOC welcomes the holding of the First International Conference for Reconstruction of Benghazi City in which consulting firms, domestic and international companies as well as research centers will participate for the benefit of Benghazi reconstruction.

Within this framework, Eng./ Mustafa Sanalla said 'We look forward within our social initiatives as a corporation to support this conference and provide a real contribution for its success. And more importantly the success of the actual operation of the reconstruction.' He added 'therefore, NOC has a set of major projects which will be, in addition to their economic and developmental role, a beautiful architectural icon which will add a mixture of beauty to the city and according to the highest and most modern international standards. The first thinking of and planning for these projects started in 2012 but they stopped due to the security circumstances and the political division, but we will resume implementing these projects as soon as the security situation becomes stable.'

The stage of the reconstruction of the city and the most important projects:

The administrative complex:

The project include NOC headquarters and the headquarters of the Central Bank of Libya, a comprehensive conference center, helipad, a five-star hotel, Brega Oil Marketing building, an investment complex for the international oil companies and an administrative complex for NOC affiliated companies.

A work team which was allocated to the project started working in the first half of 2013 as the procedures of possessing and preparing the targeted land for construction at Jiliana district were completed, the cornerstone was set in the construction, the project consultant was chosen who is an Italiandesigner holding the title of the best designer for the year 2015.

The estimate value of the project is 600 million dollars including furniture and the entire systems. The project will be financed by a group of commercial banks which expressed their willingness under a minutes of meeting. The implementation of the project will take 3 years from the date of starting the constructions stage.

The oil center for maintenance and services:

It is a developed technical center equipped with the most up to date international technologies for the localization of the maintenance and technical services works for all companies, serving the energy sector and will be located in the free zone in Almarisa.

The team in charge of the project started its work in the middle of 2013 and a restricted tender was announced to choose the project's consultant. The companies pre-qualification operation resulted in passing of 7 companies for selection and the project at the stage of evaluating the bids. The estimate value of this project is about 137 million Libyan Dinars.

The permanent exhibition for oil and gas:

It was allocated a team to prepare a vision and study of this project and it held its first meeting at the beginning of this month. It is an attractive project that encourages to attract the major companies specialized in energy field. It is also suggested to be located in the district of Almarisa.

The Petroleum Institute

A modern technical petroleum institute will be built in Ganfouda district. Suncor, the Canadian company, will contribute to financing the construction of this institute.

The building of Benghazi Security Department

The Arabian Gulf Oil Company will supervise and follow up this project. Eng./ Mustafa Sanalla ended his talk by saying:' National Oil Corporation will never save any effort to encourage oil and gas companies to contribute to the reconstruction of Benghazi city and move the economy and development in the city forward.'
