Managing director of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) said Iran is ready to export gas to Iraq as soon as the Iraqi side expresses readiness to import. Speaking in a press conference, Hamidreza Araqi added part of six trans-Iranian gas pipeline with a length of 270 km from Sanandaj to Naftshahr will be inaugurated next week with the presence of Iranian Petroleum Minister. It's worth mentioning that, this pipeline plays an important role in gas export to Baghdad. According to the report of the public relations of the NIGC, Iran has signed two contract with Iraq to transfer gas to Baghdad and Basra power plants. Araqi went on to say that, Iran will host the International Gas Union Research Conference (IGRC) meeting in 2020,' he said. IGRC is the globally most recognized gas research conference and attracts gas company executives, researchers and others from all over the world which held every three years in different countries under the auspices of International Gas Union (IGU).
