Flaggers will be present to control traffic near the ND Highway 20 Underpass project in Devils Lake on February 1st and 2nd as work continues on the project. Crews will be transitioning traffic from the west side of Hwy 20 to the east side. Flagging will consist of two flaggers, one controlling traffic at Hwy 20 and 6thSt. NE and the other controlling traffic at Hwy 20 and Hwy 19. They will work together to control the north and south bound traffic through one lane of Hwy 20 while roadway barriers are moved into the new configuration. Once the traffic shift has been completed the pedestrian traffic will also be redirected from the west side of Hwy 20 to the east side.

Traffic and Pedestrian restrictions will consist of:

  • ND Highway 20 will be reduced to one lane from ND Highway 19 to 6thStreet NE while the roadway is transitioned
  • A width restriction of 12 feet will be in place
  • Speeds reduced to 25 mph
  • Pedestrian traffic will be transitioned from the west side to the east side of Hwy 20 from 6thSt. NW to 3rdSt. NW.

The Devils Lake Underpass Project has many phases that will require numerous changes to traffic and pedestrian flow patterns. Motorists should reduce speeds, follow signs and know that traffic control will frequently change throughout the duration of the project.
