Keir Starmer, British Prime Minister:

"This NATO summit is an opportunity for allies to stand together to strengthen their resolve--particularly in light of that appalling attack (Kyiv children's hospital missile strike)--against Russian aggression.

"...Today and tomorrow and the next day is all about standing together with our allies, discussing practically how we provide further support for Ukraine and send a very, very clear message to (Russian President) Putin that we will stand against Russian aggression wherever it is in the world."

Starmer also condemned a missile strike on a Kyiv children's hospital on Monday (July 8) which both Ukraine and a U.N. rights mission have said was a direct hit from a Russian cruise missile. Russia claims - without evidence - that a Ukraine air defense missile hit the hospital.

Starmer, who became prime minister last week after his Labour Party won a landslide election victory, made the remarks shortly before he departed for a NATO summit in Washington.
