The international crude oil price for Indian Basket as computed/published today by the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas increased to US$ 109.39/barrel (bbl) on 02.01.2013. This was higher than the price of US$ 108.46/bbl prevailing on the previous trading day of 31.12.2013.
In rupee terms, the crude oil price went up marginally to Rs 5949.72/bbl on 02.01.2013 from Rs 5941.44/bbl on 31.12.2013. This increase was due to price increase in dollar terms as rupee appreciation moderated most of the increase. Rupee dollar-exchange rate on 02.01.2013 at Rs54.39/US$ against Rs 54.78/US$ on previous trading day of 31.12.2013.
