On January 17, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Peruvian Foreign Minister Cayetana Aljovin exchanged messages of greetings on the 155th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Peru.

Sergey Lavrov wrote in his message that the traditions of mutual rapport and respect, which have developed between our countries over this period, constitute a solid foundation for the development of mutually beneficial multifaceted cooperation between Russia and Peru. The two countries hold a consonant position on many global issues. The Russian minister mentioned a trust-based political dialogue, effective mechanisms for coordinating bilateral relations on the international stage and developing trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties.

Ms Cayetana Aljovin reaffirmed her country's intention to continue to strengthen traditional Russian-Peruvian ties, friendship and cooperation, which have reached a stage of strategic partnership. She also extended wishes of well-being and prosperity to the Russian people.
