Indonesian Ambassador visited Foulath Holding BSC, an steel industry complex in the Hidd Industrial Area, Manama. Foulath Holding BSC is a holding company which engaged in the steel industry in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) (9/1).

This holding company has investments around3.5 billion USD in current market valueand serve as important chain in large steel industry, also wellmanaging its business with other international steel companiesto improve product quality and capacity of knowledge and technology. In theKingdom of Bahrain, Foulath Holding Company BSC has three subsidiaries, namely Bahrain Steel company, United Stainless Steel Company (USCO) and United Steel Company (SULB). During the visit, the Ambassador received by Mr. Mohammed Ali Abbas Al Amur and Mr. J. Mirza Al Misbah of Foulath Holding BSC.

Bahrain Steel itself was originally started in 1981 under the name Saudi Iron and Ore cooperation with Kobe Steel Company. Bahrain Steel Company production process began in 1984 after the construction ofiron pellet plant was completed. Currently Bahrain Steel employs about 1200 workers and becameone of the biggestiron pellet producer in the world and the only producerin the Middle East. In the presence of two iron pellet plants, Bahrain Steel production capacity reached 11 million tons / year. Raw materials such as iron ore were imported from various countries, with Brazil as the largest supplier. In addition to iron pellet plant facilities, Bahrain Steel also havingsea water desalination facilities to caterthe needs of the water and the port for unloading raw materials.

Meanwhile USCO undertake the production of stainless steel sheet (cold rolled stainless steel) with a production capacity of 90,000 tons, while SULB undertake production of various steel products such as beams, channels, angles, and steel plates. Mr. Mohammed Al Amur informs that Foulath Holding BSC is currently accepting orders 5,000 tons / year forIndonesia in the form of H-beam products and steel pellets.

On this occasion, the Ambassador offered opportunities of various raw materials (metals and minerals) whichare owned by Indonesia. As a first step, the Ambassador presented bauxite processing inWest Kalimantan. In response, Mr. Mohammed Al Amur askedfor more information about these opportunities andcommitted to contact the owner of the bauxite concessions. Furthermore, Mr. Mohammed Al Amur informs that they have plans to visit Indonesia in the near future and will explore investment opportunities forthe bauxite processing.
