Ministry of Finance of Republic of Indonesia : Vehicle Administration Fee Increases, Instead of Tax

Jakarta, 06/01/2016 MoF - Government Regulation Number 60 of 2016 has stipulated the Tariffs of Non-Tax Revenues (PNBP) prevailing in the Indonesian National Police (Polri). The increased PNBP is related to the issuance of vehicle registration document (STNK) and vehicle ownership documents (BPKB). In relation to non-tax revenues, the rising cost is applied on administration fee, not vehicle tax rates.
National Police spokesman Boy Rafli said the improvement of public services sector is part of bureaucratic reform of Polri. To conduct its activities and improve the services, Polri needs investment for service improvement. Besides, the PNBP tariff has not been adjusted since 2010. 'PNBP set in PP Number 50 of 2010 has been reviewed since early 2015,' he said during press briefing at Presidential Staff Office, Jakarta today (06/01).

For example, the fee for STNK issuance for cars has increased from IDR75,000 to IDR200,000. The fee is paid every 5 years, and becomes non-tax revenues for Polri. Meanwhile, the vehicle tax, which was ambiguously reported, is part of the taxes levied by local and regional government.

Boy confirms that the adjustment costs will be used for the improvement of service in the polri. One of them is the addition of data safety features on the vehicle registration material and technology enhancements in the police service. 'Today, for example, we are gradually doing e-samsat ; online-sim (driving license), online vehicle registration. So, for renewing driving license, people do not have to go back to their hometown. This (service) will be realized in a number of regional police in major cities in Indonesia,' he explained.(as/rsa)
