Jakarta, 09/01/2016 MoF - Price increase in chilli for the last couple weeks has drawn the President Joko Widodo's attention. According to him, as quoted from setkab site, weather uncertainty was attributed to limited supplies to the community.

The dwindling supply, which cannot meet the demand, have contributed to the sharp increase in the price of chilli.

'Bad weather in late 2016 generated crop failure and dwindling supply in chilli commodities. It is fluctuating,' the President said during his visit in Central Java on Monday (9/1).

On the same occasion, he also monitored chili price developments in Kajen Market Pekalongan, Central Java. To overcome the problem of supply, government will try to distribute chili from regions with a surplus (excess supply) to regions experiencing a shortage of supply (excess demand).(ab/rsa)
