Jakarta, 09/01/2016 MoF - President Joko Widodo distributed the Family Hope Program (PKH) card in Pekalongan, Central Java on Sunday (08/01). The card distribution aims to reach economic equality for the poor. It could be used to buy nutritious food and school supplies.

In addition to that, the President also handed over Smart Card (KIP) for 236 orphans in Pekalongan ranging from elementary level up to senior high school. 'We need to prepare the children now, so that they are smart and healthy. If not, we cannot compete with other countries. We do not want to lose, we must win,' the President said.

According to plan, another 896 thousand orphans throughout the country will also receive the card. 'All orphans will receive Smart Card, so they can go to school,' he said.

For information, children with the level of primary education will be given assistance of IDR450 thousand/year, junior high at IDR750 thousand/year, and high school at IDR1 million/year. For those with disabilities, the government will provide assistance of IDR300 thousand/month and IDR200 thousand/month for elderly.(as/rsa)
