Vice Minister Qu Dongyu meets Colombian Ambassador to China Mr. Garcia

Vice Minister Qu Dongyu met with Mr. Oscar Rueda Garcia, Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia to China, in Beijing on Jan. 10, 2017. The two sides exchanged views on deepening bilateral agricultural cooperation.

Vice Minister Qu made positive remarks on the achievements of China-Colombia agricultural cooperation over the past years. He noted that the two countries are highly complementary to each other in agricultural sector with great potential for cooperation. In the future, both sides should continue deepening the bilateral agricultural cooperation and implement more pragmatic cooperation projects.

For further agricultural cooperation, Vice Minister Qu made the following suggestions.

1. To fully utilize the cooperation mechanism of the China-Colombia Joint Committee on Agriculture to boost exchanges and cooperation in agricultural S&T, capacity building, trade and investment, etc.

2. To promote collaboration in agricultural R&D for better innovation capability with a special focus on the tripartite cooperation among China, Colombia and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT).

3. To enhance bilateral trade and diversify each other's agricultural produce market.4. To guide and facilitate investment and business cooperation in areas of common interests to achieve mutual benefits and win-win outcomes in the agricultural sector.

Mr. Garcia fully agreed with Vice Minister Qu, noting that Colombia and he himself will continue highlighting cooperation with China for more remarkable achievements.
